If it was easy, it wouldn’t be much fun and we like to have fun! No matter what skills you have coming in to camp, we will challenge you to learn a variety of new skills, and to take your existing skills as far as you can. You will work harder than you have every worked before, and experience a summer like none you have ever had before.
Whether this is your first experience with circus, or you're looking for advanced level training, you will find it in our programs. During our training weeks, the day is broken into a series of skills classes, with each class focused on a specific circus art. Classes available may include acrobatic arts such as tumbling and hoop diving; equilibristic arts such as stilt walking, unicycle riding or wire walking; manipulative arts such as juggling and diabolo; aerial arts such as static trapeze, Aerial Fabrics, Lyra and Spanish Web; and drama arts such as stage presence, clowning, and physical comedy. At the end of each practice week we invite parents and friends to come and see the work that has been going on.
This year we are also offering a performance show week. During show week we will put together a full 45-60 minute show around this theme. Campers will experience all that goes into a show, including planning and practicing group acts, polishing individual acts, to working out costumes and sound, show order, and more. We will put on a dress rehearsal on Thursday, a camp show Friday afternoon, and our final show for parents Friday, July 24th in the evening.
Circus arts campers should wear a unitard or biketard and bring a bathing suit, towel, water bottle, and change of clothes everyday. Each camper will also receive a detailed handbook allowing them to continue practicing their skills outside of camp.
